Vector Tunnel

The 1998 Auckland power crisis was a five-week-long power outage affecting the central city of Auckland, New Zealand.

Following the crisis Mercury Energy disposed of its electricity and gas retail business and, renamed Vector Limited.
The cables were replaced in a 9 kilometre tunnel from Penrose to Hobson Street via Liverpool Street.
The segmentally lined tunnel was the first of its kind in New Zealand and incorporated dimensional tolerances and specifications never seen in precast concrete before.

Wilson on boarded these challenges and produced 44,000 segments meeting all specifications and project deadlines.

A technical first for New Zealand of which all participants involved collaborated together to strengthen Auckland's infrastructure, building foundations for the future.
